Troubling

My opinion may not be popular.  But it is my opinion.

In all of the debate and bruhaha over gun control and gun rights something is very troubling to me.

Yes, it is awful that people, including children, have been killed over the many centuries by guns.  But I don't believe that means that we should now let the fears of children decide our nation's laws.

As parents, we value our children's thoughts and fears but that doesn't mean we let their opinions rule over our households.  Well, we shouldn't anyway.  We are the the adults and our life experience guides us to make hard decisions that our kids may or may not like at times.

Even so, we should not let the fears of some children in our nation dictate what laws we make or what laws we uphold.  There is a reason that we have a voting age here.  Sometimes what seems rational to children is not truly rational.

And while I am at it:  the duplicity of someone who uses children to direct policy if it "saves one life" while promoting the murder of unborn children is ridiculous.

We live in troubling times.
